I suggest you temporary disable the antivirus programs on Windows 7 computers. Is there any way to have windows 7 / vista not try to include the Domain when going to outside web sites, i would realy not want to give out the server name if i could especially when it works fine with every other browser just not the win 7 IE combination. it would always automatically assume i wanted to use " domain\username " when ever i returned to the site. You can create a shortcut to this command and assign a global hotkey for this shortcut to open IE's addons-free mode directly, as described here: Add global hotkeys to launch your favorite applications in Windows 8.1.
I read somewhere to try and take off the " enable windows authentication " in the advanced tab and that did seem to make a difference but through out the whole time i noticed whenever i put in "username" then remember password. It will work even if you don't type the full path to IExplore.exe because Windows comes with a special run alias for Internet Explorer. it is exclusive to IE on windows 7, here are all the methods i tried: XP IE7 works XP IE8 works 2008DC works 2008noDC Doesnt work 7 firefox works 7 chrome works (includes vista on all) 7vista IE 7 or 8 doesnt workĪlso if you notice i mentioned 2008 domain controller, im not sure how but when i go to the site with IE on the server it gives the classic windows authentication box, which is why it works it doesnt try to specify the domain. If i put in server\username it works perfectly also firefox chrome work perfectly. what i found is that it has to do with the " DOMAIN: LOCAL " underneath the username and PWD in windows 7. I checked everything server side, an all was ok. when we go to the site we get prompted for credentials, like normal but it takes forever to log in and then times out downloading half of the images. I saw a thread with maybe the same problem in windos 8, IE 10. my issue is: we have a website ( not internal to our domain) that uses windows authentication and its using the local NT user database on the web server. In windows 7, IE 11 cannot-enable-or-disable-any add-ons via tools, there is a stopsign in front of it. Please forgive the category choice as i wasnt sure exactly where it fit.
